Interviews

Time has flown! For this blog post, I thought I would touch on interviews and a bit more regarding the scheme. Interviews are a daunting yet important process however interviews are a two way process. The organisation is trying to find out if the candidate is the right fit for the NHS, and the candidate should also be looking to understand if the organisation is right for them. One way to know if the NHS Graduate Management Scheme is right for you is to ask yourself, why you want to work in the NHS. Being able to answer this question will give you a clearer purpose for applying.

As a policy and strategy graduate, I have been working on a number of policy related projects exploring integrated care. It has taken me close to four months to understand NHS England, the way it works and its role in the health of the nation. The learning curve to date has been steep; I have learned more about myself, my style of work, and the skills needing further development. However, just as I am finding my feet, I am rotating into my second placement at Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust in March. I am very much looking forward to understanding a different area of the NHS, and how national policy translates at a local level. This is a key benefit of the NHS Graduate scheme – being able to experience different settings of work for a more holistic understanding of the NHS and patient care.
